Went to see Jessica McDermott’s impressive high-concept short film Here’s Our Future in Front of Us at The Old Hairdressers last night. It asks what would happen if a young idealistic couple found out (via time travel) all the compromises they will make in life and love. Here’s the trailer:

I performed three songs at the the 13th Note last Wednesday with Flore and Laura. It was the monthly Acoustic Tribute Battle (now in its third incarnation under the stewardship of Jason Sweeney, having taken over from Roy Moller, who took over from Joe Kane) and the first one to be focused on labels rather than individual artists.

The contenders were 4AD (Pixies, Lush etc) and Sub Pop (Nirvana, Mudhoney etc). We chose Ciao by Lush, Hands Up Baby by Camera Obscura, and Here Comes Your Man by the Pixies; two duets and a singalong classic. The results of the last song can be seen on YouTube.
