Almost too well

blog

I am now a third of the way through my alcohol-free January and am happy to report that it is going very well, almost too well. I feel like I could go a whole year of sobriety and be all the better for it, but I know that such hubris is dangerous, especially now that things are getting back to normal after the disorientation of the festive period.

Yesterday, I compiled a list of all the things that I have done (and not done) each day in 2009:
- flossed my teeth
- not drank alcohol
- had a juice from my juicer
- not read any football gossip
- written on my blog
- posted to my foto blog
- done my stretches in the morning
- not killed anyone

Place your bets now as to which one is going to fall first. I imagine that it will go something like . . . get drunk, can’t be bothered to floss, wake up late without time for stretching or juicing, start looking at the Guardian football pages leaving me no time to write here or take photos, meaning that I have broken all of my good daily deeds in the course of 24 hours, making me so angry that I have to kill. All that from a thimbleful of red wine!
